Dr. Scaunas has been in practice since 1994. She completed her undergraduate studies in biology and chemistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She attended Loyola Stritch School of Medicine, followed by residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Upon completion of residency, she was asked to remain on staff in the position of assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology. During that time, she developed an interest in pediatric and adolescent gynecology. She became board certified in obstetrics and gynecology in 1996 and has been with our practice since 2003.
Dr. Scaunas’ approach to medicine is viewing the patient as a whole, while focusing on the treatment of menstrual abnormalities, uterine problems, and endocrinologic abnormalities that women experience throughout their lives, from puberty to menopause. She is skilled in performing surgery using advanced technologies that utilize minimally invasive techniques. She also has a special interest in pediatric and adolescent gynecology.
“My philosophy is that the patient needs to be approached as a whole. Through education and counseling, the patient should be well-informed and be able to participate in the direction of her own care. I believe that excellence in care should be provided to best treat the various problems that women experience. My continued education keeps me on the cutting edge of medicine. This offers my patients an advantage in their overall care and outcomes.”
Dr. Scaunas is married and has two children. She is fluent in Romanian, both written and spoken.
