Women’s Health Specialist is thrilled to have the ability to perform minor in office surgeries. We are skilled in endometrial ablation, hysteroscopy and the Essure birth control procedures. These procedures can be performed in both offices without the extra risks and costs associated with hospital admission and general anesthesia. These procedures may be performed under local anesthesia with minimal discomfort to the patient. Patients will have quicker recovery and less overall cost. Each procedure is explained below.
Endometrial Ablation
The physicians at Women’s Health Specialists have been performing endometrial ablation procedures for many years. These procedures are performed to control heavy bleeding associated with the menstrual cycle. Before this procedure, tests will be performed including ultrasound and possibly biopsies to make sure each patient is an appropriate candidate for this procedure. This minor surgery inserts an instrument into the uterus and burns the endometrial lining. This can result in complete freedom from periods, or lessened flow. These procedures have low complication rates and are considered very safe. These procedures are not appropriate for women who desire more children. This procedure does not involve hormones or hysterectomy.
Essure
Essure is a permanent birth control procedure. It involves minor surgery to place inserts into the fallopian tubes. This blocks the fallopian tubes and prevents conception. There are no abdominal incisions and no hormones. This procedure can be performed in the office. There will be no scars from this procedure. This procedure is not appropriate for women who desire more children.
Hysteroscopy
Hysteroscopy is a procedure where a small camera is inserted into the uterus. This camera can examine the uterus from the inside and diagnose many different types of problems. This can be performed with minimal discomfort to the patient. This type of procedure is considered to have a low complication rate.
